Reactor 09 (2006)

by Bernie

"Escaping from a prison is never easy. But doing it with a correctional officer's consent is even harder. Officer Matthew Holmstett is a walking, talking regulation book and has his own set of ideals. Getting him to do what you want won't be an easy task. Don't overdo it, or you may find yourself handcuffed to a radiator very fast. Nobody trusts someone convicted for murder that easily after all..." (Bernie)

This might be the right AGS game when you are looking for a "different" adventure (one with a more serious/adult content). Even if there would´ve been some more space for a bigger story (I would´ve been very interested in getting more informations about the circumstances of the murder Dr. Galivan was accused of) I think it´s remarkable that Bernie uses a subject like the homosexuallity of the guard as a part of the story (even if it´s not the main part).

There are four different endings to discover (from bad to good) and which end you´ll get is depending on the trust-o-meter (which displays your trustworthiness). Several decisions during the game will have an influence on this, so you better think twice what to do or to say in a certain situation.

What else is to say? The graphics are well made, the music is nice and atmospheric and the puzzles are not too hard (except for one which still doesn´t make much sense to me). So stop reading this and start playing "Reactor 09"!

    Another nice adventure game by Bernie! I liked the interface and the music very much. I only wish the game would´ve been longer and you could´ve gone deeper into the story of Dr. Gallivan and the crime he (possibly) commited...

    One question: Is there any logical solution for the riddle with the measuring device? I solved it simply by trying all possibilities... :(

    BTW: I will play again tomorrow to get a better ending!

    * BUMP! *

    Almost finished the game, puzzles are far too easy for my tastes (then why I got stumped just before the end? :P ) and gameplay is deadly linear, but technical side is flawless (I love the music especially). Very good game for evening or two.

    New adventure game at last! Yoohoo! :Bearhug:

    /enthusiastic mode off

    Erm...OK... Cant say much about the plot, cant say much about gameplay (however it takes some time to get used to interface) since game was released for download only a few days ago. All I can say is that Bernie's games are usually above average, so I except decent game that will keep me entertained for a couple of hours.
