Death Worm (2007)

by JTR

Morning over the savannah. A lion watches a giraffe lazily, his tail twitching. When the giraffe freezes suddenly, the lion doesn't even bother turning his head. He's the king of the jungle. Not even a slight rumbling in the ground fazes the lion. Until it's too late... Suddenly the ground erupts, as a huge pair of jaws breaks the soft surface, swallowing the lion whole! In a panic, the giraffe starts fleeing across the sandy expanse. It doesn't get very far... the Death Worm is on the hunt!

Remember "Dune"? Remember "Tremors"? This is your chance to be the Sandworm, to be the Graboid, to be the Death Worm! In this entertaining arcade game, you control the worm as it hunts anything that moves on the surface, or even above it. Take care though, the puny humans have no understanding for your need to grow as large as possible at their expense, and will send in everything they've got to stop you.

"It's so much fun to play a sandworm, kill everything and see how it grows bigger and bigger with time." - Pater Alf, Game Hunter

"A perfect waste of time. Oh, I mean that in a positive way!" - Scythe, Game Hunter

"Way better than miniature golf or Othello..." - Chroelle, Game Hunter

Discussion on our forums on Death Worm

  • eMTe :
I think, when worm begins the game, death prediction becomes very easy for majority of people on the surface. They usually live only a couple of seconds.
  • niteczka :
Hi there, Speaking of death prediction, I find it really odd that one of the on-line death prediction services showed me the same death date that I was foretold in my dream about a year ago. I can’t explain this coincidence in any other way except that there must be some kind of magic involved here.
  • Chroelle :
Indeed there are similarities. And Wings of Fury is a GREAT GAME! (I am still mopping about the remake not being accepted in here...)

I saw a pay-version of Death Worm on Android Market the other day. Is that by you guys as well?

  • Drasir-Vel :
The death worm has been included in the game Terraria.
  • eMTe :
I felt sudden urge to post here. Playing today, after many many years, Wings of Fury, Ive noticed strange similarities between it and Death Worm. In both games you move back and forth the scrolled screen killing tiny creatures in the process. I believe the similarity is unintentional (Ive noticed this only today), but it tells much about one of playability memes.
  • eMTe :
To be frank, Ive ended my affair with Death Worm on single player version. Does it allow internet play or hotseat only?
  • Grassman7z7 :
Thank you so much for the good reception! I can't tell you how happy I am to find DW2P here.

I've posted a message with the Metanet forums. I'm sure you folks can expect a little more traffic coming up. I'll try my best to make sure everyone knows that CWF has posted this game on their site.

Additionally, I'd like to let you guys know that Patsy and I have started on a re-make. We'll be sure to keep you updated, and would be very appreciative to have the game (If it is ever completed) hosted on CWF.
Thanks very much! If you have any questions, just let me know.

  • Chroelle :
No need to apologize about posting - that is what the thread is for :).
On the other hand I am glad to hear that our policy of offering downloads from our own servers once again proved to be a great idea. If you can find some way of telling people efficiently that the game (with 2pmod) is to be found here, we will of course be glad to get the traffic. :)

  • Scythe :
While it is very unfortunate that you were not contacted prior to putting the 2P mod up here, at least it still turned out to be a sunshine story. All hail the Death Worm.
  • Grassman7z7 :
I hate to post in a topic that has not been touched in over two years, but I felt like I had to.

Myself, along with Patsy7z7, created the Death Worm 2P mod. Due to computer troubles, every copy of the mod that we had has been lost. The only remaining downloads, as far as we knew, were scattered around the internet, and were not even the most updated version of the game!

Two years later, today I stumbled upon this forum. I downloaded the mod, and it was the most updated version! People can play what we made!

As such, I have updated the links on the Demo-Video on Youtube, found at:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDOqF-ig ... onse_watch

Unfortunately, I cannot post in the Metanet forum as it has become a bit of legacy. I'll contact their webmaster and see if I can get an update in there. As far as I know, the biggest number of people find the Metanet site when looking for DW2P.

I cannot express enough how pleased I am to find the mod posted here. It would have been nice to be notified of it's posting, so that I could properly link folks to this forum, but I'll be doing what I can to remedy that now.

Once again, thanks for this. I apologize for posting here, and you may feel free to delete/move/whatever this post, but I felt it was important to post here to try to drive up this site on Google. It is quite a ways down, and I want it known that DW2P is hosted here!
    Thanks,
    Grassman7z7

    BONUS EDIT
    Just before I forget...
If you bring up the Cheats panel, and type in 'streetsimpson' (Excluding the quotes, of course) you get a nice result. Try it in two player!
