Double Dragon: Fists of Rage (2005)

by KonamiG

"Double Dragon: Fists of Rage" is a remake of the classic arcade game "Double Dragon". You play Jimmy and Billy Lee who have to fight through the streets of a dark city to rescue their friend Marian who was captured by a mysterious bad guy (for reasons that are not explained at all).

But in fact the plot isn't in any way necessary. All you have to know is that there are lots of bad guys attacking you and you have to bring them down before they do the same with you. There are lots of different attacks and moves you can perform and several weapons you can use as well.

To be honest, the game isn't as good as the brilliant "Streets of Rage Remake" (which you can find on CWF as well), but there is a decent one player and two player mode and for sure you won't be bored playing this game. Or as one of our game hunters wrote:

"I did relive the glory days of dropping zillions of dollars worth of quarters into the machine...without actually dropping quarters into a machine..."

Which isn't the worst thing at all...

Discussion on our forums on Double Dragon: Fists of Rage

  • Chroelle :
Most of the times it points with a "GO" arrow towards your direction, but this is actually not that clear at this particular place. It is the first time you encounter a wirefence you can climb, and the arrow doesn't show up until you are on the fence.
  • Pater Alf :
    Thank you!

After I knew what to do it was ridiculous easy. But it would've been nice if the game would've given you some info hint about what to do at this point (I was trying to destroy the fence or start the vehicle instead).

  • Chroelle :
    Now I did.
In the beginning of the first mission you have to climb a fence. Its a wirefence to the righ of a door or something. It is in the first picture so you cant move right or left. You have to go upwards. Did that solve it for you?

  • Pater Alf :
    Did you look at it?
  • Chroelle :
I am not sure. It has been a while since I played it. Remind me to look it over. Dont have time now sorry! :(
  • Pater Alf :
I had no problems to finish the first mission. But right in the beginning of mission two (the construction site) I'm stuck. There are no opponents and no items (as far as I can see), but I'm just not able to leave the screen and go on. Is it a bug or do I miss something?
  • Chroelle :
I think the game was a great way to spend soem time, and I was entertained fully. I think Streets of rage has some features that this game could use, but at the same time this is all you need from a Double Dragon game.
  • Chroelle :
Double dragon is one of the classic themes that would later become a trademark to be printed on all kinds of actiongames. The genre is almost sidescrolling beat 'em ups, and it is mostly worth it, for a quick play through.

This one is no exception. You can play single or multiplayer (i only tried single player though) and I had quite a fun time playing it.
