Action DooM 2: Urban Brawl (2008)

Prequel to Action Doom, total conversion of Doom released in 2003. Playing as police veteran living in a crime-filled quarter of the city you embark on a quest to rescue your daughter from kidnappers.

Urban Brawl tries to emulate beat'em up games in first person perspective, so unlike in usual shooter gameplay is focused on melee fights. Similarly, further areas can be reached only if you kill every enemy in current level section. There are 9 levels overall, multiple paths to choose and different possible endings.

  I really like the cutscenes and the voice-acting. You can imagine the character from just hearing his voice and that adds a lot to the atmosphere of the game.
  
  But I dislike that you can't throw away an old weapon to pick up a new one.
  
  But after all this is definitely a great mixture between Beat-Em-Up game and FPS. Well done, Action Team!

  Good difficulty. Very nice feel to it, and the graphical side to this is beatifully done in a cool style. The humour involved is ok, not haha funny but more "popular" humour.
  There were some buts though. Mouselook made the game very buggy to watch, and playing without mouselook seems hard as there are so much debris in the game that you cant tell weapons, food and upgrades from junk lying around before getting so close to it, that you need to look down to see it.
  I haven't played it through but I loved what I did play, and I plan on going back to this again.

  As far as I know the purchasable version will get shipped on CD and in a nice cover box. There are also some bonus maps. But the rest of the game should be identical...

  A colorful action game that combines a classic FPS engine with some elements from the Beat'm Up genre. It reminds me more of "Duke Nukem 3D" than of "Doom", but I have to admit that I'm not a big expert for FPS games.
