Ninjamboree (2008)

by Martijn Oei and Jacob Bakermans

The Olympic Ninja Festival is going on, somewhere in an ancient village in Japan.
Mysterious earthquakes threaten the festival. Who will venture through those dangerous mountains,
full of dazzling puzzles, to search for the source of the menace?
Yes, good guess - you.

Ninjamboree is an original and humorous puzzle platform, in which you have to use the abilities of your ninjas to succeed.
A breathing atmosphere makes Ninjamboree a game to love.

Made by Martijn Oei (14) and Jacob Bakermans (15).

Technically the game is ok (especially for a game made by kids). Everything works fine and the basic idea of the game is pretty good as well. But to be honest, the level design is quite poor. Either you have to search the whole level to find out where to go or it is completely obvious from the very first moment. And if you play with the scout, you can never fail, because he can easily call any other character needed.

Another thing I didn't like i that the game takes information from my system and uses them. Ok, it's just simple information like user's name and the language he/she uses and it was probably meant in a funny way, but whenever a program does things like that, I wonder if it might look for other informations as well.

I really liked it, and the gameplay is just enough to be innovative in my book. I think the difficulty was more or less dead on, and the fact that the game didn't change textures made me think of not only The Lost Vikings but also Lemmings. Very cool in my book
  • eMTe :
Puzzle game. The goal in each level is to guide five ninjas to the exit, using their abilities. Including such rarely if ever seen like ability to clear the environment with mouse pointer. Looks interesting.
