Plane Arcade (2004)

by 3Division

Plane Arcade is a shooter set in World War II.

Game contains 15 campaign missions. The goal in each, except the reconaissance mission 4, is usually to destroy enemy planes, tanks and buildings or protect certain objects.

Ammo is unlimited, however bombs are limited. Plane is controlled with mouse, except speed which is controlled with ctrl and shift keys. Camera view can be changed with cursor keys. There's radar box in lower left corner, bomb and speed meter in lower right corner and life meter in upper right one.

The major issue is that game's ingame text is entirely in Czech, and so is manual, so you'll have to figure out yourself what to do in each mission. Generally this is no problem though.

    Amazing with the linkage. :)
  • eMTe :
There's an explanation of what to do in each mission over at Caiman.

    http://www.caiman.us/scripts/fw/f1725.html

Also, Ive tried, just for fun, to see if it would be possible to play the game in English. I replaced one of mission briefing pics (they're in 'menu' folder) with another jpg file identical in size, but all I got in game was white square. Must be some sort of inbuilt filter, because I used the pic of nude woman.

Anyway, you can download Plane Arcade from CWF now.

I have a friend who speaks Czech, so Ill do some screenies and ask her for quick translation of vital parts of the ingame text, but Im not giving even the lowest level of priority to this mission.

Yup, fourth mission is about flying close to the ground to stay invisible for radar. As for picking ammo I dont think you can pick ammo anywhere in this game. It's pure fly-shoot/bomb everything-return kind of game.

Hmm, at first I had trouble to start the game, because I didn't know what boxes to check in the setup. Then there was no sound (and there still isn't) and last but not least, I don't know what to do in the mission.

Seems to be a great game, but without a translation it is not very enjoyable for me... :(

A really good game. You'll have trouble completing some of the missions if you don't know the language, but there is also an quick fight mode where all you have to do is destroy all the enemies.

The 4th mission is about keeping below the radar by the way, but if you figure out how to get ammo in that mission please write it here!

    Me too!

And just to say this after checking it out:
A great game. What Hunt for the Red baron (the freeware edition that got cancelled due to name-issues) should have been - if it had been in English. The 4th mission is about keeping below the radar by the way, but if you figure out how to get ammo in that mission please write it here!

Looks amazing. How is it controlled? Mousesteering? Keyboard? Gamepad necessary?

BTW: Cool little thing I just realised. I copied the text in the manual about license to an empty html page, and uploaded it:
    http://www.connect-webdesign.dk/license.htm

Then Google asked me if I wanted to translate as the text was in Slovenian or Czech and that made it possible to see that there is a permission to distribute in there. :)

  • eMTe :
Nice and simple shooter with 15 campaign missions. Game is almost entirely in Czech, but there should be no problems with understanding what to do in each mission.
