Starblaze Confront (2005)

by RelicPlay

This is a classic arcadish game with lots of different gameplay. You control a spaceship in a distant future, where pirates, and scoundrels roam the galaxy to try and make as much profit as possible, by killing of eachother for ransom or by other unlawful ways.

Your game starts as a lone pilot entering the solar system, and is very fast confronted with a enemy spaceship. Now the first part of the gameplay starts. Later you will be dodging meteors and other fun stuff trying to turn you into space debris.

The game was made as test for the developer to try and see wether he could create a game with this amount of simplicity based on an oldie he played, and then decided to improve the game more and more, and finally ending up with this result. A game that looks like a lot less than it feels like.

Discussion on our forums on Starblaze Confront

  • relicplay :
Thanks, Zyx. I am so used to put the entire URL between bbc-tags. =)
  • Zyx :
It works for me, so I guess everything's ok.

Let's just say that certain Santa's elf went and fixed the post. :x-mas:

It was a bit odd decision why I thought that it makes more sense that the the youtube-tag should only include the ID part, not the full YouTube-url.

  • relicplay :
Yes, that's right, I am the creator.

You a creator of the game I suppose, because it's not clear from your post? 8)

    Thank you for the thread.
I recently put up a Trailer-video for this game on YouTube:

Doesn't seem like the youtube bbc-tag works... Perhaps some admin reading this can edit this post and make it work?

Game is quite good. At least there is some variety in gameplay and missions which isn't very typical for that kind of space shooters. I had fun playing it and I like the soundtrack a lot.

A game that could have been a little better. Great concept, and great fun to play, but has some downfalls.

The speed of your ship is too slow, and the options of buying upgrades for it is not that great at first. However the different battlemodes of this game is great, and the story is more than adequate. A great idea for a game that has been ok implemented.
I will recommend this to others.

"Starblaze Confront is a 1-2 player duel game in classic 2D-cartoon/comic style, in which you take control of a single-crewed spacecraft and battle other ships. The game have many options and extras as well. Also, it's possible to create your very own ships and levels using the editors included!" (taken from the official homepage)

The game is quite fun to play and there are several power-ups you can buy after completing each level. It can be controlled via keyboard or gamepad.
