Review for Duck Doom Deluxe
This is one of the best game crossovers I have seen in ages. The theory behind it is, "what do you get when you cross Nintendo's famous Duck Hunt with Doom?"
Of course, you get killing ducks with big weapons!
Duck Hunt, nowadays, seems like a lame idea, though with Nintendo's laser gun back in the 1980s, it enjoyed a bit of success.
Doom, of course, has big weapons and ways to mercilessly shoot people up.
The interface will be familiar- the viewpoint is the same as Nintendo's game, but with Doom-style information under the scenery. This information shows how many times you may miss the ducks, and what level of the game you are at.
The game starts with a simple handgun. If you make it a couple levels, you get a shotgun. Few more levels, and more powerful weapons appear.
My complaint about this, is that there is more disadvantages than advantages to the later guns- some take more time to reload, but don't offer any better accuracy. I find myself using the handgun for the whole game usually.
The graphics are simple 8-bit style most of the time. There is a sunset-looking sky when you miss the ducks, and the dog laughs at you (No, you cannot shoot the dog!). This adds to the atmosphere of the game a bit.
The game could have had more dimension with varied viewpoints, or different surroundings. Perhaps in some future version we may find this. For now, the tree and the bush are enough to enjoyably play.
The game would have been better, too with a weapon, available later on, that would stun the duck no matter where you aim. Something like this would only be available once per level, of course.
But, for now, Duck Doom Deluxe proves that two completely different games, can be converged into an excellent product. While not a must have, it is very much worth playing.

There are many fans of the classic hunting game "Duck Hunt". And there are even more fans of the classic FPS "Doom". So what would be necessary to bring these two fan groups together??? Correct! Lots of ducks to kill and lots of big weapons to do so... :) Noproblo Games realized that, mixed the two classic games and the result is "Duck Doom Deluxe"! In the beginning of the game you start with a simple pistol. But the more ducks you shoot... (read more)
