- The Humble Voxatron Debut by Zyx on 07.11.2011
Yet another one is up. This time The Humble Voxatron Debut started off with just one game, Voxatron but got soon two other games, Blocks That Matter and The Binding of Isaac.
All games are available for Windows, Max and Linux and are free of any DRM.
Remember that you can divide your payment any way you want between the developers and worthy causes. October 2011
- New game - Plane Arcade by eMTe on 30.10.2011
Something for fans of "flight" games this time, however technically Plane Arcade is not a simulation - just a heavily simplified shooter. Game is entirely in Czech, so it might be a little confusing for starters, but is nonetheless fun to play! - Say "hello" to Open Sonic by eMTe on 22.10.2011
Another game added, this time a tad short, but colourful, open source platformer based on Sonic the Hedgehog universe - Open Sonic. Have a nice play!
- Another game added by eMTe on 08.10.2011
If you're a fan of Dizzy series you'll be more than happy to play Dizzy and The Other Side - a game so faithful to the spirit that one might confuse it with a lost gem from 8-bit era. Game was created with DizzyAGE engine, a tool which also helped to create other fanmade Dizzy games. Check them at some point, maybe some of them will find their way to CWF in future, if we consider them worth it! :) September 2011
- We're still here :) by eMTe on 29.09.2011
Well, if you've been worried that no new games had been added recently here's completely new game - cool shooter called GunFu Deadlands.
Freeware sites usually experience an activity slowdown after years, but you won't get an opportunity to say that we rise from the ashes, ever. We're still here, alive and kicking. ;) July 2011
- TAGAP 2 is here by Zyx on 31.07.2011
We're proud to have The Apocalyptic Game About Penguins 2, which improves on multiple fronts from the original TAGAP. Definitely one of the better freeware action games! Read the full press release!
- The Humble Indie Bundle #3 by Zyx on 29.07.2011
The fourth incarnation is up! The Humble Indie Bundle #3 includes this time around yet another bundle of great indie games: Crayon Physics Deluxe, Cogs, VVVVVV, Hammerfight, and And Yet It Moves.
All games are available for Windows, Max and Linux and are free of any DRM.
Remember that you can divide your payment any way you want between the developers and worthy causes.
On top of all that, you get an access to Minecraft for couple of weeks! - Flood and downtime by Zyx on 07.07.2011
Hi and welcome back! Severe flooding in Copenhagen caused some serious damage to our webhost and they had to relocate all the servers to a dryer ground. It took a bit longer than initially thought but now we are back. June 2011
- Download problems are still there by Pater Alf on 08.06.2011
We are very sorry to tell you that the download problems are still there and that we are unfortunately a little clueless what the reason might be. So if you want to download bigger files from our site at the moment, we would recommend to use a download manager to make sure that you get the whole file.
We apologize for the inconvenience and promise that we will still try to find the reason for the mysterious timeouts and get rid of it as soon as possible. April 2011
- Download problems by Pater Alf on 28.04.2011
Unfortunately there are some download problems at the moment. For unknown reasons big downloads (above 100 MB) for some users lead to timeouts and therefore to incomplete downloads.
We try to find the reason and fix that problem as soon as possible. - The Humble Frozenbyte Bundle by Zyx on 12.04.2011
This time around The Humble Bundle is all about the Finnish indie developer Frozenbyte's games. Most of you might be familiar with Trine, but this bundle also contains the two Shadowgrounds games, Splot (a game for kids, I guess) and a prototype version of Jack Claw. Like always, Trine and both Shadowgrounds games work on PC, Mac and Linux and are without any DRM.
And like always, you can set your own price and set how much of the money goes to the developers and how much to the two very worthy causes, EFF and Child's Play.
Be a real gamer and donate well. Trine alone is worth more than the average donation is right now.

- CWF turns five! by Zyx on 20.02.2011
Curly's World of Freeware turned five years on 17th of Feb. In that time we have put over 370 games on this site and get these days almost 5 000 visits per month. In that time, the community has written over 37 000 posts or almost 20 posts per day!
This wouldn't have been possible without our dedicated game hunters who have searched high and low for the freeware gems available on this site. Also, a very big thanks to all developers and to all our fans.
We have great plans for the future, so stick around for the next five years! January 2011
- Twitter account by Zyx on 24.01.2011
Curly's World of Freeware has an official Twitter account! Follow our trusty curlybot on Twitter today! - Database problems (fixed) by Zyx on 22.01.2011
Update: Everything should work now.
Right now we're facing a bit of database problem which has rendered our forums inaccessible right now. Everything else just work fine. This is unfortunately out of our hands and requires attention from our host. We hope to have forums up and running as soon as possible. December 2010
- Merry Christmas everyone by Chroelle on 24.12.2010
Once again the year is coming to an end, and once again a lot of things has happened for CWF. Lots of old members have dropped by these last weeks, and we were happy to see them all again.
New members joined in 2010 and hopefully more will come in 2011.
The crew at CWF is still working hard to give you the best in Freeware games, and will continue to do so in the future as well.
We have more good stuff coming your way in the new year, so come back and see.
Merry Christmas to everyone and a happy new year as well.
- The Humble Indie Bundle #2 by Zyx on 15.12.2010
A new Humble Indie Bundle is up! The new line-up in this pay-what-you-want scheme is no less impressive than in the previous one. Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos and Revenge of the Titans. All games are available for Windows, Max and Linux and are free of any DRM.
Remember that you can divide your payment any way you want between the developers and worthy causes.
There were also good news for the owners of the previous Humble Bundle. Many people did want to wrap their games in DRM and add them to their Steam accounts and that was made possible for some of the games a week ago. October 2010
- Bit of a slump by Chroelle on 20.10.2010
Well it seems we hit a bit of a slump recently. No games added and very little forum activity, but I am glad to announce that those days are over and we are getting activity in here. Games will be added and there will be more activity in the forums. We hope you feel like joining in and possibly even help out a bit with things, as we always have plenty to do - mostly fun stuff. :) August 2010
- Assembly'10 Gamdev competition entries by Zyx on 03.08.2010
One of the biggest demoscene/LAN festivals, Assembly, opens this week and this time around they had a game development competition (probably had it in the previous years as well). Here are the entries. Some of them are Flash games, and one is even a NES game, but for most part they are Windows games. Also, most of them are freeware.
Many of these games are Finnish, so do expect a really, really odd humor. July 2010
- Apogee licenses by Chroelle on 29.07.2010
This week we hit another jackpot as oldie-goldie-gamemaker Apogee (now known as 3DRealms) has given us permission to host all of their freeware games. This does not mean all of their discontinued games, as some are not freeware, but if the game is marked down as freeware on this site, then it is available as a distributable game, so go find your favourite, search our forums to see if it has been submitted, or else go submit it yourself. We don't want to hog all the fun. :)
Thank you Apogee! - Even more games added this week by Chroelle on 21.07.2010
Well once again we had a burst of activity and 15 games were added these last 2 days.
The games are not all showing up on the main page, and that is because the system counting from the day the database entry was made and not when the game-entry was made public, so most of the games is not showing.
So here is a list of what was added: Freetrain, Gate 88, Ardentryst, DX-Ball, Future pinball, Robbie Swifthand and the orb of mysteries, Grave Spirit, Pandoras Gearbox, Asteroids 3D, JNKPlat 07, Plasmaworm, Hentai High School (adult), LV-426, Yo Frankie!, Slave Maker Revised (aka Slavemaker 3) (adult).
All of them are worth a playthrough, so go check them out. We have collected Slave Maker 3 in a collected download, so you wont need to go and download 3 different parts at some download-site that only allows a low speed. - Lots of games added to the site this week by Chroelle on 08.07.2010
We had a lot of activity in the crew this week, and also welcome Moogle our newest crewmember, so things are looking even more up for CWF.
Games added this week:
10800 Zombies, Gravity Bombs, Box's Adventure, Wendy's Wellness, Jardinains 2!, Nemesis, Klass of 99 -Sportz Daze, Chak's Temple, Paper Flight, Lionheart Remake, Checkerboard, Diamond Lines, Polaris, PING PONG!, Cliffall and Return to Sector 9. - It's summer! by Zyx on 01.07.2010
It's the beginning of July and probably most of you are already on vacation. So, what better time to play some games. Remember, the sun and its UV rays are dangerous. Freeware games aren't, not even I'm OK.. June 2010
- The Silver Lining is back! by Zyx on 30.06.2010
The fan-made sequel to Sierra's King's Quest series is back among the living and is slated for release on July 10th. This is exciting news for many and probably one of the highlights on this year's freeware gaming scene.
The project was all but dead since February, when Activision decided that they only care about making Guitar Hero and Call of Duty sequels and fan-based games using their recently acquired IP were definitely out of the picture. This wasn't the first time the owners of King's Quest have told the project to shut down and yet again this fan-favorite was able to overcome these obstacles.
We have followed the events around this game's development on our forums and once the game is released you can expect us to have some more coverage of TSL (and of course, the game, if at all possible) on our site. May 2010
- The Humble Indie Bundle by Zyx on 05.05.2010
Good news for all indie game fans! The developers of many excellent indie games have set up a "pay what you want" bundle of their games.
The games are World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru and Penumbra Overture. The going rate for the whole bunch would be 80 US dollars, but you can name your own price. As of writing, 8 USD has been the average payment for these really fine games.
The catch is that you can choose how your money is distributed. You can split the money any way you want with the developers and the two charities.
Don't be cheap, both EFF and Child's Play are really worthy causes and deserve your support.
