  • Domain name change. by Maz on 06.11.2007
Hi dee Ho peeps! We have decided to finally do the planned domain name change. Our new coordinates is http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/ The old curlysworldoffreeware.com still redirects to the correct location, but some cookie related login problems may emerge - sorry folks. If you enter to the site with old URL, and login fails, please write http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/site_main.php in the address bar, and try login from that page. Thank you for your patience, and I hope you like our new home :) Also please inform us about any non working features you'll encounter, there propably is some links and such which may cause you to log out. If you remember to report them, then it is easier for us to fix these issues :) -Maz

  • Seems time for a newsreport by Chroelle on 21.10.2007
Pater Alf has been making sure that we have lots of new games and versions of games on our site ready for download once more. Thank god for the German efficiency. We also have some other features worked on, which would soon air. Newsletter will improve quite a bit if you ask me, and also we have started advertising the site wider, so hopefully we will get more members soon. There has been a steady increase in signups during the last month, and that is a succes-measure right there for you. Also the downtime due to our host can now be waved bye bye to, as they have changed their style so less customers are on each server. This means that if the site crashes it is our own fault...So that might not be as good news as I thought it would be... We are of course all looking forward to X-mas by now too, so if you have a X-mas freeware game you want to be in the featured list for seasonal games, then please submit it now. It takes time for games to be validated, and we need them...

  • Apologies!! by Maz on 06.09.2007
I am sorry for the unexpected downtime we had. And for once I can say it was not our host causing the problem. We encountered some issues with phpbb's caching system. Well, on the other hand, I am happy to announce we're back online (at least for now :D ). So don't worry, we may hide, but we won't leave! ;) Thank you for your patience! I wish I will see you on forums also in the future :) -Your's Maz.

  • Stability Issues Clearing? by Maz on 14.08.2007
Hi deee Ho peeps! I contacted surftown support, and they recon there is (were?) a problem. They have been/are taking some corrective actions, and I am cautiously hopefull :) Maybe they're not so evil afterall ;) :D (Thank you Surftown guys for taking the problem seriously) Well, naturally the effects their actions will have are still unseen, but as I told, I am hopefull :) Perhaps the stability issues we have been facing, are over sooner than I expected :)
  • Unstability - Apologies by Maz on 06.08.2007
I am deeply sorry but it seems our host is once again having some problems with the database stability and/or DNS. Way too often that when trying to access CWF one sees wither 'server not found', 'Critical error' or just blank page... Please be patient with it, and try again later :) I will start looking for solution, but I do not promise anything, since server change seems to be out of my schedule ATM, and I am not sure how much Surftown is willing to do in order to fix the problem. :(
  • Most of the Spanek's style is now fixed :) by Maz on 03.08.2007
While I was at it, I also fixed some other bugs. I am sorry for hurting your eyes... But on the other hand, you have probably never seen CWF changing colours with the rate it just did :D (No, first fixes were not successfull... :p)
  • Broken style (Spanek's) - CWF Default by Maz on 03.08.2007
I broke Spanek's style by accidentally replacing one of the files... I am sorry. I contacted to Spanek and asked if he could fix it, and if he can't then I'll do it myself... (I'm trying to do it ASAP). Failure is cosmetic and everything should be functional although a bit ugly... My apologies. -Maz
  • First CWF interview by Maz on 02.08.2007
Was sent. Tonight I sent the questions (which are visible in our Freeware Forum) to Jason "MamiyaOtaru" Winzenried, the leader of Wing Commander Privateer Remake team. I am anxiously waiting to receive his answers, and will put them up on our site as soon as possible :) So stay tuned ;) ...Well, as a sidenote I can tell that the remake is excellent game, adding some extra dimensions to original privateer, yet maintaining the original feeling... Anyways, I am planning to continue our promisingly advancing 'series' of interviews :D (...first one is soon out I hope => can we speak of series?) Don't worry if you missed the chance of adding your own questions into the review. I will open another 'submit questions' thread after I have managed to prepare 'our next target' so you'll have your chance to ask all of those questions about freeware game projects you have always wanted to be answered. Oh, and finally, my summer vacations are over. Let's all have a toast in order to...

  • What have you always wanted to ask from game creator? by Maz on 12.07.2007
Why does someone work thousands of hours unpaid? Are game creators extremely good in techy things? What are the biggest challenges when one leads large developement team? How does one actually lead such a team - team consisting of volunteers? . . . Is there anything you have ever wanted to ask from game creator? If so, please just ask! (see this: http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/viewtopic.php?p=18212#18212 )
  • Considering yourself as a good writer? by Maz on 09.07.2007
Challenge our review validator team. Voice your opinion. Let yourself be heard. Collect the fame and name! Okay, enough of adverticing. I'll announce a new competition without further pondering. At this time we'll have reviewing competition. Rules are simple: 1. pick up a game which is downloadable from our site and which clearly represents some of the following genre: Adventure, Arcade, RPG, Simulation, Strategy. 1. Write a good review with your favourite text editor. 2. Save the review on your own computer! 3. Go to the page where you can download the game on this site. 4. 'Review this game' button. 5. Copy the review from your own computer and paste it into reviewing window. Keep the copy of your review on your own computer, untill you get 'review accepted' PM from validator AND see the review published on this site. (That way your review is not lost if a technical failure emerge). IF YOU WISH TO TAKE PART OF THE COMPETITION, PLEASE BEGIN REVIEW WITH TEXT:...

  • New games by Maz on 01.05.2007
As you might have noticed, our hard working team of GameHunters and our belowed admin Chroelle have started to add new games into the databases :) I believe they have a goal to add some new games weekly, or bi-weekly. So new games are to be expected, and if you ask my opinion, there are some real gems coming... ;) I'll leave telling more accurate plans (like the adding day, if such will exist - as well as some hints about what to expect) to Chroelle, just in case he wishes to give you something to expect ;) I am pretty sure we'll see at least some original adventure games, maybe some strategy games and propably even firy action. (This is what I believe). But as I said, it is up to Chroelle and game hunters :) And finally. I apologize but we have some technical difficulties going on with the forums. And unfotunately my schedule does not really allow me to spend time fixing them in near future... So please, if you encounter problems, please report them but be patient - fixing...

  • Site behaviour by Chroelle on 15.04.2007
Well currently we are experiencing some slow behaviour of the site. We believe our host is responsible for this, and are currently communicating with them regarding this problem. I think it is rather important that you know this, so you know that we are actually aware of the sluggish behaviour, and we are doing something about it. Please report to this thread if you experience luggish behaviour. http://curlysworldoffreeware.com/viewtopic.php?p=16575#16575 We do apologize for this, and hope that you will return once the issue is repaired.
  • Download problem && Update still ongoing! by Maz on 01.04.2007
    Hi dee Ho peeps!

I started the update but as you propably notice, some things are still unfinished.. Please post me a note about each non visible picture etc... Or I may just forget things :( (As I had some things forgotten).

    Another news concerning downloads.
I noticed we had our downloads down for a some time. Reason is that our host had one of our code file deleted. That was not too nice IMO, a letter about using too much resources would have been much more friendly... And then if I did not do anything about it, Then they could have had the file deleted... However, I apologise everybody about that. It seems I have really neglected my admin duties lately :( Reason is my real life schedules, and it seems to continue like that for a lil while... However, I do hope I'll find time to fix things that need to be fixed :) And you can help me out by reporting bugs you encounter :)

  • Udate??? by Maz on 27.03.2007
Hi dee Ho peeps! I wish to warn you. Here is a small possibility that the site will be closed next weekend. If I manage to find the time, I'll do an update for the site. If I don't, well, then I everything will just go on as it's now untill I do. I however hope I'll find the hours I need in order to update things in near future :) -Maz
  • Happy Family Event :) by Maz on 21.03.2007
Congratulations to our mighty admin Chroelle! He has just experienced perhaps the most affective moment in man's life. I will leave telling details to him though.. However, that means Chroelle will propably be away from the forums for a while. (Yes, he has much more important things to handle now ;) ) So if you have any questions, requests, suggestions or so on, you can contact to me at Mazziesaccount@gmail.com or by sending me a private message from our forums. With urgent matters private message is preferred way, since I do not read my mail at daily basis.. So once again, CONGRATULATIONS CHROELLE (And all others who were involved ;) ) -Maz

  • The deadline for next version is closing in.. by Maz on 23.02.2007
Yeah, so I am sweating, swearing and coding :D Okay, to tell the truth, next version will contain mostly changes in site's internal operation. Those should make the engine, safer and easier to maintain.. Anyways, things that propably will be the most interesting for you are: 1. Review system (yes, you'll have opportunity to release your inner writer, and get your name shining on this site as a review writer! and 2. New design(s). Designs are currently under construction, and it is a bit unsure whether those will be ready in time. We also experienced a major drawback with designs since our head designer was forced to pull back.. Well, I can do nothing but say that such is the real life. No one can predict how things will go :( We all thank you for your hard work and devotiond Dizi! But we try our best so things produced by our sinster minds could see the daylight... Designs are now being done with new forces! I thank Guybrush, Spanek, Zyx and all others involved!...
  • Advertisement by Chroelle on 19.02.2007
Well you are propably thinking that CWF has goen totally commercial seeing all these ads around, and thinking that we are greedy sons of Batches. We are...We want as much money as possible - because we need money to support the developers, and we need money to host the site and advertise it so we can drag more people in here to help. This means that in the comingtime you will see more different advertisement in here. This is simply because we want to know what pays off best. CWF will not look like this forever. But for now it will. Ads will be removed when they proved not worth it. Project Wonderful ads will however be displayed, but maybe not in the way you see them now. Happy gaming and please look at our advertisers sites and see if they have anything for you. We are not paid pr click, but they were nice enough to bid on advertising here at CWF. I can also tell you that we are currently testing ads from Adbrite.com to see how they work. You will notice them when you...
  • Games upload by Chroelle on 15.02.2007
Some of you might have noticed that it has been a while since we last uploaded new games. This is simply due to some testing going on with the database. As soon as we are done with this, we will start adding games again, and I can tell you that there are some gems in the line. We have 46 games (some are still being checked for permission) ready for adding on the site. Yes that is correct: 46 games all lined up ready to go. There are however many more waiting for validation, so if you feel you would like to spend some time being a game hunter (member that plays the games to see if they should be on CWF) then please feel free to write me a message. We still need designers too so feel free to write me too if you feel you can help create a better looking CWF. Also we can see that our recent ad-campaigns have drawn in some new members. We welcome them and hope that they will be brainwashed to stay by the end of the week. Have fun everybody.

  • CWF proudly presents: by Maz on 29.01.2007
CWF's newest HELP THE DEVELOPERS project has launched. CWF has launched the 'help the developers' program. We aim to gather people willing to help out freeware game developers under our wings, and search projects they could help for them. This way people who do want to help with making freeware need not to search the suitable project for their skills (we do it), and developers need not to search for helpers (as we provide them). Of course since this site is still in it starting phase this all still occurs in small scale. But we can be proud and said that we HAVE STARTED. At the moment we have few people who are working in translation projects for some games, and lot's of open positions. So if you ever wanted to participate in creating a freeware game, now you have the possibility! All it takes is a sign up on our boards, and lil introduction post in developers help project forum with mention about your skills and field you wished to work. (See more accurate instructions in...
  • A person who were missing for years was found :) by Maz on 25.01.2007
I have a pleasant announcement to give. Our coding team was strenghtened by unexpected person. Once so well known member on another site has joined to our coding team. Please all welcome Spanek =) Spanek's main responsebility will propably be in designing and implementing some a bit more visually advanced features for our site by using javascript. Those of you who absolutely loathe javascript, don't worry. We try to maintain scriptfree parts of the site too, but I hope we'll soon(ish) see some nice visual enchantments =) And as a sidenote, I am back. -Maz
  • Volunteers needed by Chroelle on 19.01.2007
Your freeware-site needs dedicated volunteers. There are many ideas we wish to implement, but we lack the man/womanpower to make them happen. Lots of ideas have not been published because we would not be able to do follow up on them, but trust me when I say we got it going on! Are you a designer, or do you have experience doing design, or are you a coder and do you have experience doing code (specifically PHP is very needed) then please report to Chroelle via either PM or via mail (the boardmail) with subject marked as volunteer. We are willing to write recommendations for you. And if you are a gamer and dont mind playing lots of free games then please report to me too, as we can always need more Gamehunters. This site will also help create contacts with gamedevelopers, so if you have any game making skills, please go write in the forums. Looking forward to reading you!
  • Update and downtime by Chroelle on 09.01.2007
Well it seems our serviceprovider has decided to update some of the software we use, and this might cause a shutdown during the weekend. At least for some hours. I simply wanted to warn you, so that you wouldn't be scared by the error you might receive. :D Also I can tell you that the designteam and I have now been working on getting the design up and running during this month. I hope we will soon be ready to show you something.
  • Let your opinion be heard! by Maz on 02.01.2007
It is now possible for our users to rate the games they have played! Just search for the game you wish to rate, and give the overall rating for it or click 'Go accurate rating' button to rate the game feature by feature. I believe not only us and our users are interested in hearing your opinion, but also developers might be interested to see what you liked and what you didn't. Your votes will be confidental, no one else but the admins cannot know what you voted, and even admins will look for that information only if it is obvious someone has been trying to harm the site. So wh wouldn't you donate a few seconds of your time to give some recognition/feedback for those who have spent dozens of hours of their time just to provide some fun for you for free =)
