Types and structures of submarine pipelines

Submarine pipeline can be divided into submarine oil pipeline, submarine gas pipeline, submarine oil and gas mixed transport pipeline and submarine water pipeline according to the transmission medium. From the perspective of structure, it can be divided into double insulation pipeline and single layer pipeline.

The advantage of subsea pipelines is that they can be transported continuously and are virtually unaffected by environmental conditions. They do not reduce or shut down oil fields due to capacity limitations of offshore storage facilities or delayed delivery by shuttle tankers. Therefore, the oil transport efficiency is high and the oil transport capacity is large. In addition, the laying period of submarine pipeline is short, the operation is fast, the management is convenient and the operation cost is low.
